CSI Bangkok at 9ACEE

CSI Bangkok attends 9ACEE in Nepal

The 9th Asia Conference on Earthquake Engineering (9ACEE) was held in Kathmandu, Nepal from May 4 to 6, 2026, under the theme “Risk to Resilience: Linking Science to the People.” As one of the region’s established conferences in the field of seismic engineering, 9ACEE provided an important forum for engineers, researchers, academics, and policymakers across Asia to exchange research, technical developments, and practical approaches related to earthquake engineering and seismic resilience.

Computers & Structures, Inc. (CSI) supported 9ACEE as a Title Sponsor, while CSI Bangkok Co., Ltd., the research and development center of CSI, participated in the conference through technical contributions and active engagement with the regional engineering community.

CSI Bangkok at 9ACEE

CSI Bangkok’s involvement at 9ACEE included a keynote lecture, participation in a panel discussion, and a dedicated exhibition booth. These activities provided opportunities to exchange technical knowledge, discuss current challenges and emerging directions in seismic engineering, and demonstrate practical technologies and engineering workflows that support the development of earthquake resilient infrastructure.

  • Keynote Lecture: Performance-Based Design in the Age of AI: From Research to Engineering Practice — delivered by Dr. Naveed Anwar.
  • Panel Discussion: Frontline CSOs & Researchers: Stronger Together for Last-Mile Earthquake Resilience (ADRRN-ERM Hub) with Dr. Naveed Anwar as a panelist.
  • Exhibition Booth: Showcasing CSI Bangkok products, projects, and engineering initiatives.

Dr. Naveed Anwar’s keynote

Dr. Naveed Anwar, Founder and CEO of CSI Bangkok and Adjunct Faculty in Structural Engineering at AIT, delivered the keynote address titled Performance-Based Design in the Age of AI: From Research to Engineering Practice. The talk explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping performance-based engineering while bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and the day-to-day realities of structural design practice. Drawing on decades of work in seismic engineering and software development, Dr. Anwar discussed emerging applications of artificial intelligence in performance-based engineering and their implications for structural design practice.

Beyond the keynote, Dr. Anwar joined a panel of industry experts for a discussion on Frontline CSOs & Researchers: Stronger Together for Last-Mile Earthquake Resilience, part of the ADRRN-ERM Hub initiative. The session focused on collaboration between civil society organizations and research communities to strengthen earthquake resilience initiatives.

Exhibition Booth

At the exhibition booth, the CSI Bangkok team engaged with conference participants to discuss engineering tools, structural analysis workflows, and ongoing initiatives across Southeast and South Asia. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to connect with industry leaders, practitioners, and local companies while exchanging ideas on emerging technologies and the future of structural engineering.

CSI Bangkok extends its appreciation to the conference organizers and participants who contributed to the discussions throughout the event.
