April 2, 2025 – Nakhon Pathom, Thailand
Dr. Naveed Anwar and Dr. Pramin Norachan from CSI Bangkok visited Mahidol University to deliver two technical presentations to Civil Engineering students.

The seminar began with welcoming remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teraphan Ornthammarath, Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering department and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wonsiri Punurai, who introduced the guest speakers and provided context for the presentations. Their professional and gracious hospitality created a positive atmosphere for both the speakers and students, ensuring a smooth and engaging session.
Sharing Technical Expertise and Practical Insights
Dr. Naveed Anwar opened the session with a talk on structural engineering principles, highlighting the growing role of technology, software applications, and artificial intelligence in modern engineering practice.

His presentation emphasized the importance of digital transformation in addressing increasingly complex structural challenges.
Dr. Pramin Norachan followed with an in-depth presentation on finite element analysis (FEA) and modeling techniques, combining theoretical insights with practical case studies.

His session provided students with valuable lessons and exposure to the tools and methods widely used in contemporary structural analysis.
Student Engagement
Over 40 students attended the seminar, marking a strong and encouraging turnout. The high level of participation demonstrated genuine interest in the subject matter and eagerness to learn. The classroom atmosphere was dynamic, with some students listening attentively while others followed along using laptops and tablets, demonstrating a keen focus on the practical applications of structural engineering.

During the seminar, CSI Bangkok also announced its upcoming Hackathon Contest, an initiative aimed at encouraging engineering students to use ETABS software for building design. In previous years, Mahidol University have participated in the contest, displaying outstanding knowledge and skills. This year’s announcement was also met with strong enthusiasm from the students.
CSI Bangkok Strengthens Ties with Mahidol University
This visit was part of CSI Bangkok’s ongoing mission to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, advance structural engineering knowledge, and promote real-world expertise within academic settings.
The seminar concluded with a symbolic exchange of gifts and recognition awards, reflecting the mutual appreciation and respect between the two institutions.

It also builds upon a recent visit by Mahidol students and faculty to the CSI Bangkok office, further reinforcing the growing partnership and engagement between both sides.
