Structural Engineering Seminars in Philippines by AIT Solutions and CSI Bangkok

Structural Engineering Seminars in Philippines

AIT Solutions, in collaboration with CSI Bangkok and local industry partners, recently organized a series of structural engineering seminars in Philippines. Held in Manila and in Davao City, the seminars involved presentations and workshops geared at structural engineering professionals to explore advanced design methodologies, practical engineering applications, and the use of CSI software tools in modern structural analysis and design workflows.

Performance-Based Seismic Design Seminar Held in Davao, Philippines

On 5 March 2026, CSI Bangkok, in collaboration with AIT Solutions and ASEP, Inc., supported the delivery of a Performance-Based Seismic Design Seminar in Davao, Philippines.

The full-day technical seminar brought together structural engineers, practitioners, and industry professionals for an in-depth discussion on modern seismic design methodologies and their practical implementation in structural engineering practice.

Technical Sessions and Presentations

The seminar focused on the principles and applications of Performance-Based Seismic Design, a design philosophy that evaluates how structures perform under earthquake loading rather than relying solely on prescriptive code provisions.

During the sessions, participants explored:

  • Fundamental concepts of performance-based design for seismic resilience
  • Approaches for evaluating structural performance under earthquake demands
  • Case studies on tall building seismic design
  • Advanced analysis techniques and modeling strategies
  • Practical workflows using CSI software tools for seismic analysis and design

Presentations demonstrated how structural engineers can move beyond traditional code-based design approaches to achieve higher levels of safety, resilience, and performance in buildings, particularly in earthquake-prone regions.

Live demonstrations and technical examples illustrated the use of CSI analysis tools in modeling structural behavior, evaluating construction sequence effects, and assessing performance objectives for complex structures.

Structural Engineering Seminar in Manila, Philippines

On 3 March 2026, AIT Solutions, in collaboration with CSI Bangkok and SY² + Associates, Inc., conducted a Structural Engineering Seminar in Manila, Philippines, bringing together professionals from the structural engineering community for a technical learning session focused on advanced analysis and design practices.

The seminar provided participants with practical insights into modern structural engineering methodologies and the application of CSI software tools for advanced modeling, analysis, and design workflows.

Technical Presentations

The seminar featured presentations by Mr. Thaung Htut Aung, Executive Director of AIT Solutions, and Mr. Keerati Tunthasawatana, Director of ACECOMS. The sessions covered several key topics relevant to modern structural engineering practice.

Participants were introduced to the principles of Performance-Based Seismic Design, an advanced approach that evaluates how structures perform during seismic events rather than relying solely on prescriptive design codes. The presentation highlighted methodologies for improving structural resilience and safety, particularly for complex or high-rise structures in earthquake-prone regions.

CSI Software Applications in Structural Analysis

The seminar also demonstrated how CSI software tools can be used to enhance structural analysis and design workflows. Through practical examples, presenters illustrated advanced features that support engineers in modeling structural behavior more accurately and efficiently.

One of the key demonstrations focused on Construction Sequence Analysis, showing how the staged construction process can influence structural performance. Using software examples, the presentation illustrated how engineers can simulate the step-by-step construction of structural systems, evaluate load redistribution during different stages of construction, and assess the resulting structural response.

These examples helped participants understand how modeling decisions directly influence analytical results and design outcomes.

Wind Tunnel Testing and Structural Analysis

The seminar also introduced the role of wind tunnel testing in structural engineering. Participants learned how experimental wind data can be integrated into structural analysis workflows, allowing engineers to evaluate wind effects on buildings more accurately, particularly for tall or slender structures.

This seminar is part of CSI Bangkok and AIT Solutions ongoing vision and activities to enhance structural engineering capacity in the region through knowledge and skill-building.
