On May 21, 2026, Naveed Anwar was invited to deliver a guest lecture during the General Assembly of Österreichische Gesellschaft für Erdbebeningenieurwesen und Baudynamik (OGE), the Austrian Society for Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. His presentation, titled Performance-Based Seismic Design of Tall Buildings, focused on the evolving role of performance-based approaches in the seismic design and evaluation of high-rise structures.
The lecture covered key concepts behind performance-based seismic engineering, analysis methodologies used in modern practice, and important practical considerations involved in the design process. Case studies from real projects and engineering applications were also presented to demonstrate how advanced analytical techniques are applied in practice to improve structural performance and resilience.
The session on Performance-Based Seismic Design of Tall Buildings concluded with a 10-minute question and answer discussion, where attendees engaged in conversations on modeling approaches, nonlinear analysis procedures, seismic performance objectives, and implementation challenges in tall building projects.
Dr. Naveed Anwar is the CEO of CSI Bangkok, former VP of Technology Transfer at the Asian Institute of Technology and a recognized expert in structural engineering, nonlinear analysis, and performance-based design. With more than four decades of experience in engineering education, research, and professional practice, he has contributed extensively to the development and application of advanced structural analysis methods for complex structures. Dr. Anwar has also been invited as keynote speaker in numerous international conferences and has been a presenter/resource person in over 100 capacity building seminars, workshops, and training programs.
